About the event

Abstract

Colour is the first thing one notices when looking at Lynne McIlvrde’s mixed media maximalist artwork. Although Lynne calls Colour her first language, she rarely talks about it; rarely in fact thinks about it. Do fish think about water? In this talk Lynne will attempt to put words around her use of colour while giving an illustrated talk about her artistic career. She will explore how colours interact in her work, and how her work has reflected her life.

Studio Turned Gallery

Formerly represented by Toronto galleries like Prime and David Kaye, Lynne now transforms her house and studio into a living gallery—a canvas in progress. For her, colour is not just a medium; it's her first language.

Artist Spotlight: Lynne McIlvride

"If more people were truly themselves, how much quirkier and more interesting this world would be. Unfortunately, too much energy goes into the act of appearing normal.”

Renowned mixed media contemporary visionary artist, Lynne McIlvride, has left an indelible mark on the art scene for over 30 years. With solo exhibitions across Canada and group showcases in both Canada and the US, Lynne's artistic journey is a testament to authenticity.
