Thoma Doehring
MEMBER AT LARGE
Meet Thoma Doehring, founder behind Tri-City Paint & Design and the first female paint store owner in Canada. For over 30 years, Thoma wore many hats. Starting out with business administration, she quickly realized owning your own business meant understanding operations, human resources, education, facilitation, and customer service.

The science of color always fascinated Thoma, which led her to become a Colorologist. She learned about how color impacts our moods, shapes our surroundings, brings a feeling of serenity or, alternatively, over stimulation. Thoma studied at the school of life and learned her trade through sheer creativity and perseverance. The training courses offered by the AIC have been a valued resource in training staff and expanding her own knowledge over the years.

During her retail career Thoma was a leader in color education. She is a public speaker, held lunch-and-learns, seminars, and began In-Home Color Coaching sessions in the early 90’s - well before color consulting became an accessible avenue for the average homeowner looking for color support.

Thoma believes that the universe has an interesting way of sending teachings to us when we least expect them. She has raised two daughters, the oldest became a Physiotherapist specializing in concussion and vestibular rehab. The youngest daughter is an artist and researcher, who navigates the world with ADHD and the ramifications of multiple concussions. Through the journey of learning to support her family, Thoma has come to focus on the importance of Neuroscience in design. This supports spaces for people with unique needs.
Thoma has recently stepped back from the retail business and moved to Vancouver Island for a less stressful life. She continues to fulfill her passion through colour coaching and interior design while incorporating wellness, neuroscience, and Biophilic Design practices.

This now allows her more time to support her colour community. She was recently appointed on the Board of Directors for the Color Marking Group and is excited for the opportunity to support and spread the word about the CRSC.
